To Sock or Not to Sock?

Gone are the days when the no-sock look was accepted just in casual cocktail parties or for evening drinks. Now it has made its way not only in semi-formal events but also in milestone events like weddings. Here’s our take on how to rock without a sock.

Which suit would suit you?

There are some suit materials that help you pull off a no-sock look better than others. Some great options are: linen, denim, and chinos. Even wool men’s suits work if they have more texture, depth, and patterns.

Put yourself in the right shoes

Shall we let you in on a secret? The sockless look works the best when your shoes are casual or semi-formal. Our best bet would be loafers. If you still want to make it more formal, you can try to go sockless with a pair of Oxfords even.

Loose it to lose it

Even after you get everything else right, if your trousers are not tapered and the hem is too loose, it would ruin it all. It’s equally important to get both right: the length and the width of your pants. When it comes to chinos, you can still somehow manage the length after folding them up, but the width still has to be right from the start. There’s no point to go sockless if it doesn’t make a difference whether you have worn any socks or not in the first place!

Hence, it’s paramount that you go bespoke, where you wouldn’t have the possibility of facing this dilemma. Bespoke tailors like us here at Bentex obviously take care of every little detail that needs attention in your men’s wedding suit, men’s wedding pants, and even men’s wedding accessories from the start.

Bohemian look

If your wedding theme is quirky and fun like a Bohemian wedding theme and doesn’t need you to wear a more formal men’s suit, then you have more room to experiment and go sockless! Try wedding suits for men with light, fun colours, no tie, and no socks. Some great footwear options to complete this look are loafers and boat shoes.

Beachy vibe

There’s another great theme to rock the sockless look in: the beach! The whole atmosphere just can’t go more laid back than this. And sockless conveys laid back. Don’t get us wrong, laid back doesn’t mean you can’t look dapper at the same time. There are multiple looks you can pull off with this. Our favourite is ivory suit, white dress shirt, ivory pants, and brown Oxfords, of course without the socks. This imbibes just the right amount of savviness and elegance in your look. Another great pick for a wedding men’s suit is a tan suit, tan vest, and tan pants. You can complete this look with a white dress shirt and brown Oxfords or loafers.
