A tuxedo, more popularly known as dinner suit or dinner jacket is a formal evening suit distinguished primarily by satin or grosgrain facings on the jacket’s lapels and buttons and a similar stripe along the out seam of the trousers. Tuxedos are typically white or black and commonly worn with a formal shirt or a dress shirt, shoes and other accessories, most traditionally in the form prescribed by the black tie dress codes. Tuxedos are more formal than 3pc suits and make the finest attire for weddings or formal gatherings.

Often, yes. Our standard turnaround is four to six weeks from consultation to final fitting, and we take rush orders where fabric is in stock and production capacity allows. Bring your event date to the consultation and we will tell you straight away whether it is achievable.
Tuxedo pricing starts at the same $799 entry point as our two piece suits and rises with the fabric and the finishing you choose, up to $1699. Black tie detailing such as satin or grosgrain facings, covered buttons and a matching cummerbund or waistcoat is quoted at your consultation. See the tiers on our pricing page.
Your first appointment is the consultation and measurement, where we settle the lapel style, facing fabric, trouser braid and button detail, then take your measurements. Your second is the final fitting, where the tuxedo is adjusted on you. Because black tie is less forgiving than a business suit, we pay particular attention to the shoulder line and the trouser break. Alterations afterwards are complimentary.
A tuxedo uses the same base cloth as a fine suit but adds a contrasting facing on the lapel, usually satin or grosgrain silk, with the same fabric repeated on the buttons and as a braid down the trouser leg. The base cloth is typically a smooth, fine wool with no pattern, so the facing does the work. Business suit fabrics, by contrast, are chosen for durability and often carry a weave or pattern.
Both are correct. Midnight blue reads as deeper and richer than black under artificial light, which is where most black tie events happen, and it photographs with more depth. Black is the more traditional choice and pairs with a wider range of accessories. We keep both in the showroom so you can compare them under light before deciding.
If you expect to wear black tie more than twice, a made-to-measure tuxedo usually works out better on both cost and appearance. A hired tuxedo is cut for an average build and returned after one night. Yours is cut to your measurements, kept on file for future orders, comes with complimentary alterations as your shape changes, and is yours for every event after that.
