6 rules for buying a wedding suit that you don’t need to follow

The biggest day of your life is just around the corner and you haven’t made up your mind on what to wear. We are certain there would be unending list of advice from parents, cousins and from your partner. It is a big decision to decide on what to wear for your wedding but make sure its pleasant process.

You don’t have to listen to everything what others suggest. Step away and take a moment. There are no do’s or don’ts when it comes to a wedding suit. Its your day and you should absolutely wear what you feel comfortable in. Rules are for meant to be broken, so with that in mind here are 6 most common rules that you shouldn’t worry about following at all!

Keep it Classic & Understated

Many will tell you that it is Bride’s day and you should let her get all the limelight and suggest you keep the look classic and understated. While we do not have any issues in keeping the wedding suit classic and understated, we disagree that only bride should have all the fun dressing up! Your wedding is as much about you as it is about your partner. Do ask your partner for their suggestion but it doesn’t mean you have to stick to the classic black wedding suit. Experiment a bit if you feel like and if the wedding theme allows for it!

Go for a patterned 3pc wedding suit or velvet tuxedo if you feel like wearing one!

FOLLOW TRADITION

Traditions are a huge part of any wedding. From not seeing your bride’s outfit before the Big day to ringing the bells. Some of these make sense some don’t make any sense at all! Don’t stick to the traditions, break the rules a bit to give it a more modern look.

If you Grandfather wore a morning suit to his wedding, doesn’t mean you must too! Give a modern spin to your wedding suit with a floral pocket square and shorter length trousers with your ankle showing.

MATCH IT UP

While we do think it is a good idea to keep the wedding suit look cohesive with what the bride is wearing or the décor and theme of the wedding, doesn’t mean you have to go all matchy match. Your tie doesn’t have to match beautiful roses on the table, that would be a bit much, don’t you think?

Don’t make matching with the décor and bridesmaid dresses too obvious. All this can be done subtly. Everything shouldn’t match, if a couple of small details match up that looks far more elegant and timeless.

WEAR A white shirt

While 99% people go for a classic white shirt with their wedding suit, it doesn’t always have to be the case!

If you are getting married by the beach or in a more casual set up why not pick a different color shirt instead of the same old, same old white shirt!

WEAR A Black Suit or Tuxedo

The safest and perhaps the most common wedding suit color might be black. While black suits do work for weddings, doesn’t mean you should wear a black wedding suit to yours. Same with black tuxedos, while there is nothing else that matches the elegance and class of a black tuxedo, doesn’t make it the only choice for you.

You can tweak things a bit and go for a midnight blue wedding tuxedo instead or burgundy tux jacket. The options are endless, so think outside of the box.

Another point to note is, as much as we love tuxedos you shouldn’t really wear them at weddings unless the ceremony or reception both are extremely formal events.
