GUIDE TO BUSINESS SUIT – PART 4

When clients come to us for their business suits, they assume black is the best choice but it’s not! Black suits are for funerals and waiters. So what should be your business suit colour options? The three suits below are must have in your wardrobe –

Solid Navy Suit –

A solid navy suit favorite among lawyers, investment bankers and politicians.  It’s a classic suit that can be worn on many occasions from job interviews to important board meetings. The advantage of navy suit is that it pairs well with many shirt and tie combinations.

A navy Blue suit with a crisp white shirt and conservative tie can be worn to “Black Tie optional” event and when paired with a light colour slack becomes a casual outfit that can be worn for any relaxed occasion.
A single breasted 2 button navy suit with medium width lapel and 2 flap pockets is a timeless pc that can be worn again and again on many occasions.

Charcoal Suit –

If navy is the heart of a wardrobe, charcoal is the spine. It’s elegant and confident. You could wear your charcoal suit almost every day, just change your shirt, tie and pocket square and you will find that it will change the look every day without looking monotonous.

Patterned suit –

Third and the final Must have pc in a man’s business wardrobe has to be a patterned suit. With Navy and Charcoal suit we have covered the basics. A patterned suit cannot be worn as frequently as it is more recognizable.

A patterned suit adds an element of interest to otherwise plain wardrobe. Your patterned options would be a Pin striped suit or a tweed or a herringbone or perhaps if you want to be more adventures then a windowpane check. A pinstripe suit in a corporate environment exudes power. A dark grey or a navy pinstripe would be a good option. Please ensure pinstripes are neither too close not too far to ensure they look good.

If you are going to pick tweed and herringbone suit then pick a modern cut, slim lapels perhaps even add a ticket pocket for the element of difference in styling from your other 2 suits.

With Window pane suits remember to keep your rest of the look simple.

Trousers look best with flat front, no pleats and no cuff style which works for all body types. With jackets you are best to go with 2 buttons, single breasted jacket. With custom tailored suits you have an option of deciding your next business suits lapel style and lapel width.
